Recently, various novel powder processing techniques were rapidly developed for advanced material production due to the growing of high-tech industry, especially in consideration of green and sustainable manufacturing. Smart powder processing stands for green and sustainable powder processing technique that creates advanced materials with minimal energy consumption and environmental impacts. Particle bonding technology is a typical smart powder processing technique to make advanced composites. The technology has many unique features. Firstly, it creates direct bonding between particles without any heat support or binders of any kind in the dry phase. The bonding is achieved through the enhanced particle surface activation induced by mechanical energy, in addition to the intrinsic high surface reactivity of nanoparticles. Using this feature, desired composite particles can be successfully fabricated.
By making use of particle bonding, a new one-pot processing method to synthesize nanoparticles without applying extra heat was developed. Furthermore, one-pot processing achieving both the synthesis of nanoparticles and their bonding with another kind of particles to make nanocomposite granules was also developed. The assembling of these composite particles and granules will lead to the control of nano/microstructure of advanced materials. As a result, it can custom various kinds of nano/micro structures and can produce new materials. In this lecture, the smart powder processing is introduced, and the applications for advanced materials including LIB and FC related materials are explained.
主讲人简介:
Makio Naito received B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from Nagoya University, Japan in 1980, 1982 and 1987, respectively. He was with Hosokawa Micron Corp. from 1982 to 1993 and engaged in the R&D of powder processing technology. He joined Japan Fine Ceramics Center (JFCC), Nagoya, Japan in 1993, where he has focused on powder characterization and powder processing technology in ceramics manufacturing. He was Vice Director of JFCC from 2000 to 2002, and then became a professor atthe Joining and Welding Research Institute (JWRI), Osaka University, Japan in 2002. He served the Director of Smart Processing Research Center, JWRI from 2007 to 2010, and also served the Vice Director of JWRI from 2009 to 2010. He is a Guest Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University,China (2009-present), and also was a Visiting Professor of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, China (2014- 2016). He is now the President of The Society of Powder Technology, Japan, and also serves as a director of The Association of Powder Process Industry and Engineering, JAPAN from 2016. He was the director of Hosokawa Micron Corp. from 2005 to 2014, and served the director of Institute of Nanotechnology and Materials Science, Kurimoto Ltd., Japan from 2005 to 2007.His peer reviewed publications cover a wide range of studies in the fields related to the advanced materials and nanoparticle processing. He has authored or coauthored more than 600 technical articles, including about 300 refereed journal articles. He has contributed to 74 books with 25 books as an editor. He has received Richard M. Fulrath Award, The American Ceramic Society in 2002. He is a Fellow of The American Ceramic Society and is Academician of “World Academy of Ceramics” from 2012, and the WAC Advisory Board member from 2018.
